The Old Blacksmiths Shop is the historic building that made Gretna Green famous and opened to the public as a visitor attraction as early as 1887.
The building has been at the heart of Gretna Green since the early 1700’s and was one of the earliest destination for runaway couples fleeing to the village to marry.
A true historic wedding venue in Gretna Green, the Blacksmiths Workshop is presented as it was in the 1700's when the Blacksmith Priest married runaways in haste. Nowadays more relaxed ceremonies take place within the blacksmith workshop, which sits adjacent to the Blacksmith's cottage, which is now an exhibition area.
The Sculpture Garden provides a picturesque location for wedding photographs

We got married on 16th August 2011 after 24years together. Our son gave me away and also stiked the anvil at the end of the ceremony. Everything went smoothly and the staff were fantastic, the flowers were beautiful as are the photos. Can highly recomend to anyone who wishes to be married here.

excellent arrangement for a wedding venue and the hotel across the road smiths fantastic and staff very good and it was all very romantic and because of this we want to get our little lilly jean christained there ....would highly recomend any one to wed here..
